A Simple And Crazy Way To Recover Your Data

Here was a real life situation I was in. I worked as a IT support staff and one day a laptop that crashed was handed to me. After some diagnostics, I found bad sectors on the hard disk and a lot of clunging sounds whenever I turned on the laptop. Unfortunately, the user have some crucial data on the hard disk and need to have it in 24 hours.

The BIOS wasn’t able to detect the hard disk. So I did some searching on the internet and found a real crazy way to recover the data. So, I decided to put it to the test since I have tried other ways to recover the data without success. I remove the hard disk from the laptop and put in the refrigerator!

Now it’s important you do not put the hard disk in the refrigerator for too long. I put it in for about 30 minutes and then quickly attached the hard disk to an external hard disk casing and connected it to another computer via the USB port.

Surprisingly, it worked, the hard disk was detected and I copied the crucial data that the user needed to the computer as fast as I could.

I have done this a couple of times since then and it does worked. However, I found it will only work for a brief period of time. Usually, you will have a period of about 15 to 20 minutes so you need to copy as fast as possible to your computer once the hard disk is working.

Somehow cooling the temperature of the hard disk helps a lot. Here’s another tip that I found. You can try tilting the hard disk sideways or at an angle about 60 degrees downwards. I found that by doing this, I can prolong the period by another 10 minutes or so.

However I like to caution you that only try this method when all other methods of recovering the data fails. There is a chance the hard disk is permanently damaged if it is in the refrigerator for too long.

Also, this method will only work if your hard disk is still spinning when powered up. If your hard disk does not spin and is dead in the water, then this method will not work.

Lost Data? - Recover It!

Losing your valuable data, either by damage to your computer or accidental deletion, is an upsetting situation. Whether the lost files contain sensitive personal information, treasured photographs, or data for your small business, the loss can be devastating. Your data doesn’t have to stay lost, however. Data recovery services specialize in restoring files that most people wouldn’t think would be recoverable. Keep reading to learn how data recovery services work.

Why Data Recovery is Possible

The files stored on your computer are all written onto the hard drive, which consists of thin, round platters coated with a shiny magnetic data storage medium, much like the shiny coating on the thin ribbons contained inside VHS and cassette tapes. Just like in a VCR or a tape player, a head inside your computer’s hard drive reads and reads and writes the data onto the magnetic storage medium.

When you delete a file on your computer, it is not actually erased from the hard drive. The hard drive simply changes the marker on that space from "occupied" to "vacant." The data itself is still there until it is written over. Think of it as a home video that you have decided you don’t want anymore. Until you actually tape over it, it’s still there.

Even once data is written over, it can still be found. This is because the data that is written over it is usually imperfect, leaving traces of the original file. With the proper tools, these traces can be located, deciphered, and - usually - reassembled into complete files. However, the more times an old file is overwritten, the more difficult it will be to retrieve it - so the sooner you contact a data recovery service, the better.

Data Recovery Options

1. Data recovery service. When you contact a data recovery service, usually the first thing they will want to know is how the files you want to recover were lost. You might have accidentally deleted the files, or the data might have become corrupted. In a worst-case scenario, your hard drive might have sustained damage, ranging from relatively minor damage such as hard drive crash, to serious physical damage such as flooding or fire. However, the data recovery service most likely won’t be able to give you a quote until they have inspected the hard drive, so you will also need to drop off or mail your hard drive to them. Before the data recovery service begins work on your hard drive, they will make an exact copy of the drive. All work will be done on this copy, to avoid doing any more damage to the drive itself. Using the copy of the original drive, the data recovery service then uses a variety of tools and techniques to try to recover the lost data. Every hard drive creates a sort of table of contents at the very beginning of the drive; by retrieving old tables of contents, the data recovery service can tell where the files you need would be located on the drive, making it easier to make sense of and restore written-over data. Once the data has been restored from the drive, the data recovery service checks to make sure the files they have recovered are complete. Again, they can use old tables of contents from the hard drive to check for holes in the files. Once they have ensured that the data is all there, they will back it up to CDs or another storage medium, and send it back to you.

2. Undelete software. A common type of data recovery software is "undelete" software, which enables you to restore files that you have accidentally deleted. However, remember that when you delete a file, the hard drive marks it as available storage. In other words, anything you do after deleting that file - whether downloading undelete software, saving another file, or even just shutting your computer down as normal - can overwrite the data, rendering it impossible to recover without a data recovery service. A way around this is to download the undelete software to a separate drive, such as an external drive or even a USB drive. Unless you know what you are doing, though, you should probably call a professional right away - the longer you wait, and the more you tinker with your computer, the more likely you are to create the need for major data recovery in order to restore your deleted file.

3. Uncorrupt software. Another type of data recovery software is one designed to find and/or fix lost or corrupted files. Again, the hazard is that every piece of data you write to the disk could overwrite the file you are trying to restore. Since the file is lost or corrupted, you cannot trust that the hard drive will know not to overwrite it. Again, immediately contacting a professional is probably the best course of action.

There are many data recovery software packs available online. These may be pretty tempting, but remember that depending on what you need done, they may or may not satisfy your needs. And even if software can fix your problem, using them without a professional’s guidance may inadvertently create more problems, not only ensuring that you will have to use a data recovery service, but also creating more work for them (and therefore a higher price for you).

Because of the nature of a hard drive or another type of memory storage, data loss is not necessarily permanent. An experienced data recovery service can easily help you restore your valuable photos, financial information, or small business data. However, don’t forget that when your valuable data has been deleted, lost, or damaged, time is of the essence if you are to get it back: The longer your computer runs, and the more often it writes to the hard drive, the worse the situation gets.

Bands these days have a unique opportunity to market themselves and their music. With MySpace and other social networking sites online and the ease of creating a website with photos, videos and MP3s, gaining a reputation and attracting fans is simpler than it used to be. But once you attract fans, do you really want to only make electronic files available? There’s something about having a CD - creating something tangible - that’s important to bands and music fans alike.

That used to mean that there was a need to shop a demo to music labels and music publishers and distributors in hopes that one of them would offer your band a contract and take care of the work for your band. When musicians started to see that the labels weren’t signing bands like theirs, which led to more and more bands seeking out professional CD duplication companies to create multiple, professional discs for them. However, these days, more and more bands are choosing to invest in a Nexis CD publishing system and are taking control of the process for themselves.

When you’re in control of your own band, you’ll find that taking control of producing CDs does not add any stress to the process - if anything; you’ll find that it’s even easier. Using Subliminal CDs For Your Benefit

Subliminal CDs work by sending positive affirmations into your subconscious mind, which is not able to reason by itself, unlike the conscious mind. This allows it to accept the positive messages as reality and work to ensure that it does bear fruit. Subliminal CDs helps the subconscious mind to accept the message as a mental command, much similar to one that you may issue it through constant repetition of positive affirmation messages, for example. There are many different ways that subliminal CDs send the messages into your mind, the most common being stereo confusion, reverse messages, silent sound and binaural beats.

There has always been controversy surrounding the usage of subliminal CDs, but it has been shown that the subliminal messages do play a part in ensuring positive results. The subliminal CDs are able to deliver the positive messages directly to the subconscious, bypassing the conscious mind totally. One of the biggest problems with positive affirmation is in believing that you will achieve your goal, due to the critical thinking ability of the conscious mind. With subliminal CDs, this is no longer an issue as your subconscious mind will receive and believe in the positive affirmations.

Subliminal CDs have been used for kicking bad habits and addictions, as well as improving a person’s mind, body and soul. They are a good and cost effective way to hypnosis sessions, which are often extremely costly. It is best when using subliminal CDs to ensure that you are in a relaxed state where you will not be disturbed. This will allow you to be more receptive towards the subliminal messages encouraging you to tackle problems, or to think more positively about yourself.

The many benefits of subliminal CDs include helping to reduce stress, as well as improving our health. The process of relaxation and focusing allows you to get rid of negative thoughts, and can also be used for mild anxiety, fears, weight loss, depression and building confidence. The best part of it all is that subliminal CDs allow you to do all this at your own pace and schedule, and there are CDs suitable for any need that you might have.

For case of mild anxiety disorders, subliminal CDs can help you to gain confidence and improve your self esteem. By reducing your stress level, this also helps with staving off panics such that they no longer bother you. Phobias and depression problems are also reduced, allowing you to make positive leaps forward in life.

Subliminal CDs are also suitable for children to use, and may help them with the problems that they face and yet are too shy to face or talk about. There have been cases of subliminal messages helping with problems such as nightmares and bed wetting. Subliminal CDs can also work to help them build confidence from a young age and prevent anxiety disorders when they grow up.

How To Rip Music CDs

Whether someone is about to buy a digital audio player or already owns one, the odds are they’d like to get their music converted from CD format to something the player can read and play. While some people opt to purchase songs online to boost their music collection, others plan to use their existing physical collection of music. As most people know, a two step process is required to achieve this task. Before undertaking it, here are a few things to consider:

1. Are the files being ripped in the format supported by the digital audio player that has been purchased or will be purchased? There’s no sense in wasting time ripping CDs to Windows Media format if the player won’t support WMA files. While most players do, and display this by showing the "Plays for Sure" logo, some don’t and checking first can save a good deal of disappointment later.

2. Is the information about the music files on the CDs showing up automatically when they are ripped from the CD to the computer? Modern compact discs contain codes that can be used by audio software to find the relevant details about the music being ripping by accessing databases on the Internet. This is important, since it makes it possible to find songs on the digital audio player easily. It’s much easier to find the song when it displays as the Bee Gees "Staying Alive" rather than "Track 05", isn’t it?

3. Don’t waste time organizing music into separate genres as the ripping program converts it from CD format. This is almost certainly a waste of precious time to organize songs into genres manually. Chances are the digital audio player will do all this automatically, making it unimportant to spend time doing it ahead of time.

4. Unless it’s acceptable for all the music to play in the same mix, with Elton John coming right after Pantera, then it may be necessary to organize music onto different play lists. Most people prefer their music organized so that vastly contrasting styles are not interspersed through their listening experience.

5. There is no step five! This is everything needed to convert a CD music library to a format accessible by digital media player. Wasn’t that easy?

Burn CDs Like The Professionals

Anyone who has burned a lot of CDs has undoubtedly encountered this problem. Your CD will not play in certain CD players. You’ve tried different brands of CDs. You’ve even tried switching the write speed of your CD burning software. Yet, nothing seems to work.

However, any “professional” CD purchased from a retail outlet such as Best Buy or Sam Goodies works in any type of CD player. What are they doing that we aren’t? Why won’t certain CD Roms duplicated at home play in all CD players?

Believe it or not, it’s because the music industry burns their CD Roms differently. Instead of duplicating CDs, the music industry replicates CDs. Though the terminology seems synonymous, the process is completely different.

CD replication is used for mass production of CDs (+500). Instead of writing data to a CD using a laser as with CD Rom duplication, CD replication uses a glass master to stamp (press) data onto the disc. This eliminates practically all of the issues with playability that are encountered when burning CDs at home. CD replication is a far superior process of burning CDs.

It is important to note that the superior quality of CD Roms pressed using CD replication doesn’t come cheap. Even when using independent CD Rom duplication companies such as Absolute Disc or Oasis, there is still going to be a higher cost associated with replicated discs.

For your next project, have your CD Roms replicated rather than duplicated. This will ensure that your product has the highest quality standard. Remember, that due to cost, you will have to order at least 500 CDs in order to receive this process. However, you can rest assured knowing that the quality of your disc is on the same level as the professionals.

How To Copy Cds

When it was first introduced, not too many people took to copying CDs. However, within a few years, things have changed completely and today one cannot even imagine that there was a time when no-one copied CDs. To say that millions of people all over the world today copy CDs would probably be an understatement. They copy data, audio and video onto CDs. CD burners and duplication are part and parcel of our lives right now.

Let’s get down to the basics and take a look at how exactly these CDs are copied. First of all, you need a master. This is the CD that you are going to copy. Then, you need a blank CD and that will be the one that you will copy the master onto. You will of course, need the hardware on which the copying is done, which is the computer where you will need to have a CD-RW or DVD-RW drive. Just in case you have an old computer that does not have this drive, you will need to buy one and fit it in. A drive like this does not cost too much, rather, they are very reasonably priced and they are also very easy to install.

In case you are thinking of buying this drive, it might be worthwhile to get a DVD-RW drive so you can copy both DVDs and CDs. You can also set the speed with which you want your copying done. 4x is the slowest speed and 48x is the fastest. Not all drives can copy at the very fast speeds however. If your drive can do a 48x speed, your CD will just take a few minutes to be copied.

So you’ve got the DVD-RW or the CD-RW. You’ve got the master and you’ve got CDs on which to copy it. Now what you need is the software. Probably the most popular software today is Nero. You also find two other software that are quite popular – Easy CD Creator and Sonic Record Now. Of course, if you look around you’ll probably find many more – some of them that are expensive and some that you can download for free.

After you have loaded the software onto your computer, all you have to do is to run the software and then copy the disk. What can you copy? Well, almost anything. You can copy data, audio, pictures, video…in fact so many types of media. All you have to do is to select the media from the menu that you have on your software and just burn your CD. The great thing is that it is so easy to learn and to do. Duplicating CDs is a whole lot of fun. You can use it to do so much. You can back up your files, you can save your pictures or make a CD of pictures like an album for a loved one, you can put your music on or a video clip, whatever. Whatever you choose to copy, you can.

Recover File And Recover Data Tools

The latest innovations in the computer field may prompt people to sell their old computers to buy new and the latest model computers. When selling the old computers, one normally deletes all the files on the computer, re-install the operating system and sometimes also format their drive so that all the files and data found in the computer does not fall in the wrong hands.

However seldom are they aware of the fact that their personal and private information may still remain on the disk in an unallocated space. It is only with the help of a data shredder software is it possible to get rid of all pictures, data and information permanently from the computer.

It is very important to get rid of all sorts of data fragments that may be present in the computer with the use of data shredder software. This is because if you venture to sell or discard your old computer without getting rid of all the data in the computer may only lead to irreparable, financial, political and personal damage to the owner or organization of the computer. There is a chance of this personal and confidential information falling into the hands of terrorists, pedophiles and also a possibility of the owner of the computer getting blackmailed or threatened, if it reaches the hands of hackers.

The best thing to do to get rid of all types of information permanently is with the help of some data shredder software. This software can be bought for a fee on the internet and can also be accessed from the internet for free. All you have to do is to visit the data shredder software site and pay for the software wherein you will be able to download the software to your computer. With this software installed, you are sure that all the information that you want to be eliminated from the computer is genuinely deleted.

Most of the data shredder software not only helps in shredding data from the computer, but also helps in data recovery. This is an important part of the data shredder software as many a time a file that was not supposed to have been deleted may get deleted. In such cases, there will be a need of recovering the file that was accidentally or intentionally deleted. So it can be seen that it is very important for all computer owners to have some type of data shredder software installed in the computer at all times.
